Corey Kluber is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball (MLB).
Corey Scott Kluber was born on April 10, 1986, in Birmingham, Alabama, United States. He attended Coppell High School in Coppell, Texas. He went unselected in the 2004 Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft.
Corey Kluber later enrolled at Stetson University in DeLand, Florida, where he played college baseball for the Stetson Hatters baseball team in the Atlantic Sun Conference. There he was named Atlantic Sun Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2007.
Corey Kluber was inducted into the Stetson Athletics Hall of Fame in November 2014 and into the Atlantic Sun Conference Hall of Fame the following year. He was selected by the San Diego Padres in the fourth round of the 2007 MLB draft.
Corey Kluber had earlier signed with the Padres, receiving a $200,000 signing bonus. On December 1, 2021, he signed a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Rays, with an $8 million guaranteed salary and $5 million in achievable incentives.
